‘Visa difficulty issue to be addressed’
Australian envoy says trade volume can increase

Australian High Commissioner Margaret Adamson has assured that difficulties in obtaining visas would end, and chambers’ recommendations for trade visa would be entertained.
She was addressing members of the Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) on Saturday.
Adamson added that currently, the trade volume between Australia and Pakistan is a little over $400 million a year, but potential existed to enhance it manifolds.
The envoy said that Australia has been assisting Pakistan in a number of spheres, including agriculture, water management, livestock, mining, and energy, but promotion and growth of bilateral trade and investment remained priorities. She urged local businessmen to explore the Australian market.
She also stressed on workers’ remittances and said that Australia could contribute significantly in this regard.
The Australian government is also working with the Punjab Information Technology Board to assist Pakistani start-up entrepreneurs learn business acumen and management practices necessary to run small and medium enterprises, she added.
