At least 802 road traffic crashes (RTCs) were reported to the Provincial Monitoring Cell of the Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) in all 36 districts of the province.
Over the last 24 hours, 12 people were killed and 506 injured and shifted to different hospitals. However, some 409 victims, who sustained minor injuries, were discharged on the spot after first aid by Rescue 1122 teams.
The data revealed that 389 drivers, 16 underage drivers, 136 pedestrians and 436 passengers were among the victims of these road accidents.
The statistics show that 167 RTCs were reported in Lahore Control Room, in which 185 people were affected, placing the provincial capital on top of the list, followed by 91 accidents in Faisalabad with 103 victims and Multan was third number with 78 RTCs and 85 victims. The data further show that a total of 927 victims were affected by road accidents including 754 males and 173 females, while the age group showed that 146 were under 18 years of age.
The data further showed that 617 motorcycles, 125 auto rickshaws, 76 cars, 41 vans, nine passenger buses and 20 trucks were involved in aforesaid road traffic accidents.
