Hasan, who finished the year as the number one bowler in the ICC ODI rankings for bowlers, bagged the reward for his astonishing performance in 2017 Champions Trophy, where he claimed 13 wickets and played an instrumental role in team’s success.
The Men in Green’s Champions Trophy triumph, where they defeated arch-rivals India by 180 runs in the final, was named as the moment of the year.

India captain Virat Kohli was named the ODI Cricketer of the Year for his brilliant performances in the 50-over format, whereas Australia’s skipper Steve Smith, who guided his team to a thumping 4-0 win over England in the recently concluded Ashes series, was named Test Cricketer of the Year.
Afghanistan 19-year-old leg-spinner Rashid Khan, who had an outstanding year and guided his team to an emphatic win against West Indies on their home soil in a 50-over encounter, bagged the Associate Cricketer of the Year award, whereas India’s leggie’s Yuzvendra Chahal's six for 25 against England was named as the T20I Performance of the Year.

Former South African first-class cricketer Marais Erasmus was being named Umpire of the Year.
Two Pakistanis — young Babar Azam and Hasan — also managed to grab a spot in the Men’s ODI Team of the Year which is captained by Kohli, whereas no player from the Sarfraz Ahmed-led unit managed to cement his place in the Test Team of the Year.
