Mahira Khan's 'Raees' becomes most pirated film of 2017
'Kaabil' and 'Jolly LLB 2' came in second and third, respectively

In this day and age, piracy seems to be growing by the second. As reported by Pinkvilla, piracy massively affects the performance of a film at the box office as it doesn't make the expected profit. Despite the movie being good, it still doesn't manage to fare well and the hard work put in by the actors, director and the entire cast and crew of the film, go to waste.
It's a known fact that all Bollywood movies are pirated. According to a report released by a German firm, the Mahira Khan and Shah Rukh Khan starrer, Raees was the top most pirated film of 2017. The movie was pirated 6,187,369 times followed by Kaabil and Jolly LLB 2.

Rahul Dholakia, director of Raees took to Twitter and expressed his concern over the matter.

Kaabil director, Sanjay Gupta stated how Rakesh Roshan had to take extra measures to ensure that the film wasn't shared illegally. He said, "Rakesh Ji endured torture and agony. With help from private companies hired to monitor piracy, he had taken over 3,400 websites where the film was illegally available within the first three days of its release."

Jolly LLB 2's Subhash Kapoor also explained, "Whether it is the government or the producers' bodies that need to act, they're not doing enough. We need comprehensive policy introduced by the government. They don't understand the seriousness of the situation, and how it's harming the industry."
