Govt assures OPC delegation of facilitating expatriates
PM's adviser on Finance, Revenue and Economic affairs notified about tax schemes for overseas Pakistanis
LAHORE:
A delegation of Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) Punjab called on the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs Dr Miftah Ismail and apprised him about the increase of withholding tax on overseas Pakistanis, discrimination in the tax amnesty scheme and other issues faced by expatriates.
The delegation comprised of OPC Vice Chairperson Shaheen Khalid Butt, Commissioner Afzaal Bhatti, and DG Syed Javed Iqbal Bokhari.Dr Miftah Ismail assured the OPC delegation that relevant policies would be reviewed and necessary steps would be taken in the next fiscal year’s budget to provide maximum relief to overseas Pakistanis.
He maintained that Overseas Pakistanis were making a valuable contribution to the economy of the country through their remittances and the federal government was committed to providing maximum facilities to them.
