Initiative to train 1 million people in ICTs approved
IT and Telecom Minister Anusha Rahman approved the project on Monday

Board of directors at Ignite said that the National Technology Fund has approved the award of contracts for DigiSkills training project and National Incubation Center (NIC) Karachi, after the launch of NICs in Islamabad, Lahore and recently in Peshawar.
The board meeting chaired by IT and Telecom Minister Anusha Rahman approved the project on Monday, which aims to train 1 million people in information and communication technologies.
The minister said that the flagship DigiSkills programme was being initiated to fill industry-academia gap through appropriate training and mentorship. She said the objective was to have more skilled people who could earn their livelihood working from home by equipping them with modern technical knowledge and e-lancing techniques. The modules of the training programme will be available online and the trainees will also be shortlisted for further training and mentorship.
