The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government insisted that its departments will achieve full utilisation of development funds by the end of the current fiscal year 2017-18, an official handout stated.

The handout, issued by the provincial information department, maintained that the finance department released funds amounting to Rs72 billion for various development projects during the first half of the ongoing fiscal year and over the past six months, all departments had spent 55 per cent of the released amount.

“Keeping in view the momentum of development pursuits … It is expected that fund utilisation will reach around 100 per cent by the end of the current financial year.”


Only 58% of K-P uplift budget utilised

The K-P government had earmarked Rs208 billion for its Annual Development Programme (ADP) in the ongoing fiscal year, including Rs82 billion in foreign and domestic loans (and) the departments were released Rs72 billion.

Some departments demonstrated maximum utilisation of development funds, including transport 92 per cent, roads 84 per cent, water 71 per cent, population welfare 77 per cent, information 71 per cent, forestry 65 per cent, Board of Revenue 64 per cent, industries 62 per cent, law and justice 61 per cent, health 60 per cent, elementary and secondary education 59 per cent, higher education 55 per cent, sports/tourism/archeology department 56 per cent, drinking water and sanitation 57 per cent, multi-sectoral development 57 per cent and food 51 per cent.

“The pace of utilisation of funds demonstrates the provincial government’s commitment and sincerity towards welfare of the people of the province,” the handout stated.
