LAHORE: The opposition benches demanded the government hang the killers of Zainab publicly and hang their bodies in a square for two days so that others learn the lesson.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) legislator Malik Taimoor Masood, in his resolution submitted in the Punjab Assembly said that there is no proper, law under which those involved in such gruesome acts are punished.

Culprits are roaming free without any fear of being arrested because there is no implementation of law, he said, adding that there should be legislation to control such incidents.

Masood, in his resolution said that ‘the management’ of all private and government schools should be directed to ensure the safety of the children.

Schools should conduct parades in schools in which the children should be taught how to protect themselves from unknown persons, he advised. The children should also be taught not to accept anything to eat offered by strangers. Children should also be taught to use busy routes to go home. They should also be told to shout if someone tries to hold them forcefully.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) legislator Nighat Shaikh also submitted a resolution in the Punjab Assembly.

According to her resolution, a topic on sexual abuse should be included in the curriculum to create awareness among children. Children should know how to protect themselves.

Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) legislator Hina Pervez Butt in her resolution submitted in the Punjab Assembly contended that a well-trained group is behind the murder of dozens of minor girls.

Now parents are afraid of sending their daughters to school. She demanded the government arrest the perpetrators behind these incidents.

PTI Legislator Shoaib Siddiqi in his adjournment motion sought a debate in the House over the murder of Zainab. He said that dozens of incidents have occurred in which minors girls were abducted, raped and killed but Punjab police have failed to arrest even a single culprit.

The government has claimed that the police are efficient to control the crime, but where do such claims stand, he asked? Every Pakistani has strong reservations over the increasing number of minor girl’s abduction, rape and killing, he said, adding that such incidents need to be controlled in no time.

Jamat-e-Islami legislator Dr Waseem Akhtar in his adjournment motion demanded the government conduct a fair inquiry to investigate the murder of Zainab and also how two protesters were killed when police opened fire on them when they took to the street and demanded justice for her.

PTI legislator Sadia Sohail Rana contended that the House be informed by the government what steps it had taken to arrest the culprits as well as what measures had been taken to control such incidents.

A call attention notice was submitted by PPP legislator Faiza Ahmed Malik stated that the House be informed about whether the government had taken action against the police officials for their negligence and arrested the culprits. She said that such incidents could be stopped if police worked efficiently.
