Lok Virsa museum gets new offices

The National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage — Lok Virsa formally opened a new block of museum offices at Shakarparian on Wednesday.
The block was inaugurated by Senator Usman Kakar by cutting the ceremonial ribbon.
Senator Kakar, who is also the chairman of the Senate Functional Committee on Problems of Less Developed Areas and has consistently asked for more funds for the Lok Virsa, appreciated the institute’s work in promoting and projecting the indigenous folk culture of Pakistan, especially from the less developed areas.
“Lok Virsa deserves commendation for doing such an excellent job in collecting and preserving the things which we inherited from our forefathers. Each province and region has its own cultural identity which is beautifully presented by Lok Virsa here at the Heritage Museum,” Kakar said.
He assured his cooperation to Lok Virsa.
Later, he visited the Museum Conservation Laboratory and Museum sores where artefacts collected by Lok Virsa are kept. He also met senior museum officials and creative staff and encouraged them for their performance.
“This place [museum] was not working for many years,” Lok Virsa Executive Director Dr Fouzia Saeed said, adding, “The museum team worked day and night to restore it.”
“Now the museum section of Lok Virsa has its own office block, which has been beautifully decorated with various traditional motifs and patterns,” she added.
