MULTAN: The increasing use of recycled carbonated and plastic bottles has been causing harmful diseases such as cancer and cardiac complications. In this regard, Punjab Food Authority officials issued an alert to discourage the use of such bottles. They said water bottles, carbonated drinks and other juice bottles should be disposed of instead of recycling them. They warned that the chemical, which is used to make plastic bottles, is mixed with water when they are reused and it may cause cancer and heart diseases. Sunlight and intense hot weather are also very dangerous for plastic bottles because the heat dissolves chemical in water and causes great damage to human health, the officials pointed out. They said these bottles are collected to store milk, water, honey and other liquids in them. They advised people to avoid using the bottles again and again.
