LAHORE: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) demanded on Tuesday harmony between the provincial and federal tax collecting agencies to avert double taxation.

The demand was raised by LCCI President Malik Tahir Javaid while talking to Punjab Revenue Authority Chairman Raheel Ahmad Siddiqui.

The LCCI president said that double taxation is one of the major issues being faced by the business community, adding that tax on leading service industries with reasonable contribution should be imposed at concessionary rates to encourage them as these have the largest share in the country’s economy.

“There are certain major services including toll/vendor services which are still under the ambit of the federal government whereas provincial governments also demand tax on such services.”
