75th Golden Globe Awards: And the winners are...
Oprah Winfrey becomes the first black woman to win the Cecil B. DeMille award
The 75th Golden Globes were held on Sunday at Beverly Hilton in California, Los Angeles. According to the Hindustan Times, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Lady Bird, Big Little Lies and The Handmaid's Tale took the major film and TV awards highlighting how important 2017 was for women. These movies with women in prominent roles, along with Oprah Winfrey's speech and the Time's Up movement that witnessed supporters wearing all-black - the Golden Globes' screamed women empowerment.

According to The Independent, Oprah Winfrey became the first black woman to win the Cecil B. DeMille award. She received a lengthy standing ovation that she had to calm down and her speech stole the show.
Oprah spoke about her feelings she had as a young girl - watching Sidney Poitier be the first black woman to receive an Oscar and how she also hoped to make an impact on young women. In the wake of the sexual misconduct allegations that has taken Hollywood by a storm, 63-year-old philanthropist said "Speaking the truth is the most powerful tool you all have."
