PFA to ban marketing of infant formula
PFA has banned the marketing of infant formula for less than one year child
ICI’s board of directors approved an investment of Rs960 million for a 40% stake in Nutrico Pakistan, which will be run jointly with Unibrands, to sell Japan’s Morinaga infant formula in Pakistan, company officials said.

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) in collaboration with the health department will complete the lawmaking for infant formula marketing and its ingredients within a month.
This was disclosed by PFA Director General Noorul Amin Mengal during a meeting with Infant Formula Association office bearers at PFA Headquarter on Friday. He said that the PFA would also ensure the affirmation of imported infant formula products with the help of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
The DG takes a review about the process of imported infant formula products, legislation, marketing policy and its ingredients. He said that the PFA has banned the marketing of infant formula for less than one year child and will take strict action against companies in the case of violation of this prohibition. Mengal said that report would compile after evaluation local infant formula products with international formula brands and the PFA would ensure the availability of international standard infant formula at shops in the country.
