ISLAMABAD:
Days after officials in the capital had to dump hundreds of gallons of adulterated milk, National Assembly Member Iqbal Ali on Tuesday said that the government was trying to curb the production and supply of substandard milk. In a detailed briefing at a standing committee of the National Assembly on Tuesday, it was recommended that legislation was required to take strict action against those who use injections on cows to artificially boost milk production, Ali said. Substandard milk is spreading diseases among children and old people, he said. Later while speaking to the media, Ali said that the chairman of the committee had taken notice of the low quality of milk which was being supplied and affecting the health of those who consumed such milk. To a question about the sale and supply of packed and dry milk, he said the strict action would also be taken to control the sale of substandard milk in the market.
