KARACHI:
A four-day International Media Conference will start from Friday and continue till Monday. The conference is being organised by the Pakistan Media Development Foundation (PMDF). Governor Mohammad Zubair announced this while addressing a joint press conference on Tuesday with Sindh Information Minister Nasir Hussain Shah and Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar.
Zubair said that journalists from 36 different countries will be participating in the conference, which will promote a positive image of Pakistan internationally. “Different events such as international scout tournament, international film festival and international media conference are being organised in Karachi to prove that the law and order situation has improved,” he said.
The governor said that before 2013, the law and order situation was terrible in Karachi and other parts of the country so the credit goes to the Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz government which took bold steps to resolve this issue. “When we came to power political, social and economic activities were at a standstill in Karachi and the federal government started consultation with different stakeholders to kick-start operations in the city,” he said.
