Dismissing as rumours the claims that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif's recent visit to Saudi Arabia is part of a political agenda, the ruling party has said that Nawaz never abused the authority of his office, a press release said on Sunday.

A PML-N spokesperson said that Nawaz has deep personal ties with the Saudi leadership and that he is going to meet them as a head of a political party.

"He has always used his relations for the benefit of the country, and never for personal gain," the spokesperson said in a statement.

He also dismissed as 'speculation' the stories of discord between the Sharif brothers as well as claims that Nawaz wants another clemency deal through the Saudi Royal family.

A report recently published in British daily The Times claimed that such a deal might be in the offing.
