At least 7 injured in twin blasts at Chaman's Mall Road

Police and security personnel among those injured, alongside citizens

QUETTA/CHAMAN: At least seven people have been injured in successive blasts in busy area of Pakistan's border town of Chaman in Balochistan province.

The first explosion occurred at the under-construction office of the District Police Officer (DPO) on Mall Road. A second bomb went off a little while later as security personnel and onlookers gathered at the site of the initial blast.

The injured include one Frontier Corps official, two policemen and four bystanders. They have been shifted to a hospital for treatment. Four of them are in critical condition.

A police vehicle, one rickshaw, and two motorcycles were also damaged in the blast.

Security forces have cordoned off the area and initiated a clean-up operation. A bomb disposal unit has been summoned from Quetta.

The routes to Mall Road have also been blocked and the citizens told to avoid government offices.

Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri has condemned the incident, and gave instructions for providing the victims with the the best medical care.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Quetta on Monday, a couple and their three kids were injured from an explosion due to a gas leak. They have been been shifted to the Bolan Medical Complex Hospital.
