This was stated by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (retired) Javed Iqbal in a statement issued on Sunday.
He added that NAB was determined to perform its national duty to eradicate corruption from the country by using all of its resources.
Terming eradication of corruption as its top priority and a demand of the nation, Justice Iqbal said that the anti-corruption body will continue its endeavours to eliminate corruption from the society by pursuing a zero-tolerance policy against the corrupt and would adhere to filing references in accountability courts within 10 months after receiving complaints.
He added that NAB has a 76 per cent conviction ratio, which would be further improved by ensuring transparency, merit, presenting sufficient evidence and flawless investigations to conclude mega and white collar cases according to their logical end as per law.
With effective efforts, the corrupt would be brought to justice and looted money of innocent people in various cases would be recovered and will be deposited in the national exchequer, the NAB chief said.
He said the cases of private housing societies, cooperative societies — which have been under process in NAB for a long time — would be completed as per law since government servants, pensioners have been deprived of their life savings.
Despite receiving money, they are deeply perturbed by the fraud, he said.
He directed NAB to conclude their cases as per law, while NAB officers were told to perform their duties with honesty, in accordance with law and without caring for anyone.
NAB officers should present concrete evidence in courts, arguments in relevant courts so that the corrupt could be punished, he concluded.
