Laboratory test: PFA starts collecting water samples

PFA was trying to ensure provision of safe and clean drinking water

LAHORE: On the directions of apex court, Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has started collecting drinking water samples from different public points and water filtration plants of union councils of the city on Saturday.

PFA officials, under the supervision of the authority’s Director General Noorul Amin Mengal, and representatives of the Supreme Court Committee for Water paid surprised visits on several water filtration plants and collected drinking water samples which have been sent for laboratory test.

Mengal said that the Supreme Court had sought report within one month but they were trying to compile it before the timeframe by completing water samples collecting process in the next couple of days from the city.

He said that PFA was trying to ensure provision of safe and clean drinking water and will take action once laboratory reports will be available.

PFA food safety officials collected water samples from Jami Drinking Water Plant, Erie Drinking Water Plant, Teaching Hospital Shahdara, Shareef Medical Hospital, Punjab Dental Hospital, University of Lahore Teaching Hospital and several other points.
