CAA staff complains boss is ‘deranged’
Holds protest at Old Terminal lounge against Air Marshall (ret) Suleman
KARACHI:
More employees of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on Friday protested against their Director General, Air Marshall (retd) Asim Suleman, for “use of improper and derogatory language” with them.
On Thursday, 15 top officers of the CAA had lodged a complaint, in writing, to the secretary aviation about the “use of improper and derogatory language by the DG”. And, they were joined by 14 general managers on Friday.
In their compliant, the CAA officers and general managers have called Air Marshall (retd) Suleman ‘deranged’.
“Suleman is a deranged person and needs immediate medical attention,” says the letter, bearing the signatures of CAA’s top officials.
Subordinates complain against CAA chief
Members of the officers association and the Collective Bargaining Agents have also joined the protest against the ‘intolerant’ behavior of Air Marshall (retd) Suleman, who had been hired as DG in November 2015.
The protesters had planned to block the Old Terminal on Friday, but due to VIP movement there they had to shift their protest to the Old Terminal’s lounge.
The whole lounge echoed with “Go DG, Go” slogans.
“Appointment of the current director general is a cruel joke played with the long-serving officers of CAA,” said the protesters, adding that a ‘deranged’ person had been handed over the responsibility of a sensitive organisation.
“It is a unique instance in which a deranged person is handling the affairs of such an important organisation,” said a protester.
Beginning from Monday, the protest would expand to other parts of the country in case no action was taken against the DG, warned the protesters.
“We will go to any extent to get him deposed,” said one of them.
