20th convocation: Fragile law, order has not affected education in K-P, says VC
87 students graduate from Frontier College for Women.

The fragile law and order situation has not affected education in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
This was said by University of Peshawar’s Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Azmat Hayat Khan on Frontier College for Women’s 20th convocation here on Friday. As an example, he said that Kurram Agency has a literacy rate of 87 per cent.
He distributed gold medals and certificates among position holders. Eighty-seven students of the college graduated with degrees in Bachelors of Arts (BA) and Bachelors of Science (BSc).
Tilat Jan won two gold medals, one from the college and other from University of Peshawar, for securing first position in BA. She was also given a certificate and Rs5,000. Sidra Pervez of BA and Sumera Saleem Akhtar of BSc got silver medals respectively for coming in second in the examinations.
Dr Khan appreciated the resolve of the college’s staff, who did not step back despite the violence in the province, and how schools and colleges were being targeted.
On the issue of inadequate hostel accommodation in the college, he said that they were taking steps to solve the issue.
The college principal, Prof Dr Neelofar Zeb Arbab, said the college maintained its tradition of excellence in 2010 and was declared the best college of the province. “The success of the college was not achieved overnight,” she said, “It was the result of consistent hard work by the lecturers.”
Dr Arbab also presented a souvenir to Dr Khan.
Higher Education Commission Director Farmanullah Anjum, Police Commandant Campus branch Suhail Khalid, Institute of Management Studies Dean Prof Dr Abdul Qayyum and other faculty members of the varsity and college and parents of the graduating students attended the ceremony.
