51 nomination papers filed for DBA annual polls

Three candidates are contesting for bar president slot

FAISALABAD: At least 51 nomination papers have been filed for annual elections of District Bar Association (DBA) Faisalabad scheduled to be held on January 13, 2018.

This was said by Election Board Chairperson Rashid Bashir Advocate in Faisalabad. He said December 26 was the last date for filing nomination papers for DBA elections and total 51 nomination papers were received.

He added three candidates Amjad Hussain Malik, Chaudhry Khushhal Khan and Abid Maqbool filed their nomination papers for top-slot of DBA president, whereas four candidates Chaudhry Shamsuz Zaman Kharal, Rana Muhammad Akram Khan Rabbani, Muhammad Aslam Dogar and Khawar Nazir Sindhu filed their papers to contest elections on the seat of vice president.

Similarly, three candidates Rana Shahid Muneer, Muhammad Rohail Zafar and Muhammad Sohail Majeed filed their papers for general secretary, whereas three candidates Chaudhry Nawaz Hussain Sindhu, Rana Faheem Safdar Khan and Mian Ahmad Naseem filed their nomination papers to contest election on the seat of joint secretary, he maintained.

Bashir pointed out that two candidates, Muneeba Kanwal and Rana Sajjad Hussain Minhas, filed their nomination papers for finance Secretary, while only one candidate filed the paper for seat of library secretary.

He said 35 candidates filed their nomination papers to contest elections on executive committee seats.

He said that objections will be received on December 27 (Wednesday), while scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on December 28 (Thursday).

The candidates can withdraw their nomination papers up to December 30, whereas final list of contesting candidates will be released on January 6, 2018 and polling will be held on January 13, 2018 (Saturday), the election board chairperson said.
