Mayor calls for following Jinnah's ideals

Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah's teachings give us a message of hope and courage. We need to follow his ideals of faith, unity and discipline.

Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar said this while speaking at a programme held at Safari Park to celebrate the 142nd birthday of Quaid-i-Azam, said a statement issued on Tuesday.

A cake was cut on the occasion to celebrate December 25. Family members of Quaid-i-Azam were also present at the ceremony who presented the mayor with a model of the mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam.


The mayor presented documents of a 120-square-yard residential plot to Quaid-i-Azam's family members Aslam Jinnah and Khursheed Begum on behalf of a local organisation.

The programme was attended by Muttahida Qaumi Movement - Pakistan leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, District Municipal Corporation East Chairman Moeed Anwer and others.

Akhtar also appreciated young students who participated in the programme. Our youths are our valued asset and they must focus on education so that we can compete with other nations, he said. The mayor added that we should learn from our past mistakes and resolved that would not repeat them again.
