Khushab opens its doors to higher education

The immediate needs of the proposed university would be catered to by the HEC

KHUSHAB:
A University will be established in Khushab for students of the district and adjoining areas. This was decided during a consultative meeting held at the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Secretariat.

The university will be established by merging the existing sub-campuses of the University of Education and Arid Agriculture, Rawalpindi, while an additional 30 acres of land in Jauharabad Khushab, 359 kanals and four marlas in Gharimukin Stadium, Mandi Town and Quaidabad will be transferred in the name of the proposed institute.

It was also agreed that parliamentarians would pursue the charter of the university with the provincial government for its enactment and to enable the launch of the first admissions by February 2018.

Dr Ahmed said that the immediate needs of the proposed university would be catered to by the HEC, while development projects would be considered under Public Sector Development Projects.
