PML-N lawmaker Ghumman resigns from Punjab Assembly seat

Rumours have it that Ghumman wants to contest upcoming elections from NA-80 on PTI's ticket

FAISALABAD:

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker Chaudhry Raza Nasrullah Ghumman on Saturday resigned from his Punjab Assembly seat.

In his resignation letter sent to the Punjab Assembly speaker, Ghumman wrote, “Pakistan was founded on the basis of Islam. In the Constitution also its name is Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Unfortunately, what has been done in the Pakistan’s Constitution regarding Khatm-e-Nabuwwat due to foreign conspiracies has hurt the faith of Muslims.”

“My heart, conscience and soul feel the pain and grief and I do not think I should remain on the post; therefore, as a member of the Punjab Assembly PP-66, I resign,” he wrote in the letter.

Ghumman had been in the US for the last seven months and not attended any event of the PML-N. Rumours have it that Ghumman wants to contest the upcoming elections from NA-80 on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s ticket.
