10 killed, 20 injured as bus collides with trailer due to fog

Bus flipped over after accident, resulting in more casualties

At least 10 passengers were killed while 20 others were injured iwhen a bus collided with a trailer on M4 Motorway on Thursday. Those killed included two women and an eleven-year-old child.

The Motorway police declared dense fog as the factor behind the incident and said that the bus was carrying over 40 passengers.

Witnesses said that they saw no reflectors installed around the trailer which was parked on the Motorway.

The police said the Lahore-Rajanpur bus collided with a parked trailer near Shamkot, Rasheeda Inter-change on M4 Motorway. As a result, the bus flipped over, causing death of 10 passengers.

Rescue 1122 officials rushed to the spot and shifted the victims to Nishtar Hospital Multan. The deceased included Qazi Muhammad Sudais, 25, Aniqa Subhan, 22, Malik Mureed Hussain, 47, Muhammad Afzal, 34, Waseem Khan, 40, 60-year-old Sardaran Bibi, Hammad Atiq Qureshi, 11, a 22-year-old unidentified woman and two other unidentified people.




Meanwhile, the injured were identified as Noraiz, Ayesha, Ajmal, Zulqarnain, Shahid, Faiz, Ammara, Muhammad Aalyan, Farzana, Shahid, Abu Bakar, Mumtaz Inamullah, Dilshad, Muhammad Ashraf, Faiz, Jabbar, Sundas and others.

Nishtar Hospital Accidents and Emergencies Director said that 10 injured had been shifted to Ward 24, one to Ward 14, one was still under treatment at emergency ward while three injured people had been discharged after treatment.

Earlier, six people lost their lives and 12 others were injured when a bus and a truck collided in Burewala. The police said a speeding bus was on its way to Karachi when it collided with a loaded truck coming from the opposite side near Tufail Abad.

The bus skidded off the road into nearby fields while the truck flipped over on the road.

Five passengers and the bus driver, named Sajan, died on the spot and 12 other passengers were injured.
