Illegal channels: PEMRA raids cable operators
Pemra enforcement teams raided the offices of more than 50 cable TV operators in various parts of country.

Pemra enforcement teams raided the offices of more than 50 cable TV operators in various parts of country in a bid to stop airing of illegal satellite and CD channels despite repeated warnings to stop them. According to a Pemra press statement illegal Indian channels were also being aired by these cable operators. The raids were carried out in Lahore, Islamabad, Jhelum, Sargodha and Attock, The press release said that Pemra had issue repeated warnings to cable operators including public notices in the print media. According to Pemra, the action was taken after receiving a large number of public complaints against cable operators for airing proscribed and illegal channels.
