PESHAWAR:
To recognise and pay tribute to those who stood against terrorists who had assaulted the Agriculture Training Institute (ATI), the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government on Monday distributed certificates amongst police officers, personnel and representatives of the Pakistan Army and the Frontier Corps who took part in the operation.
In this regard, a ceremony was held at the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. While Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak was supposed to have handed out the appreciation certificates to arguably the first and last lines of defence — K-P Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser took up the mantle after Khattak could not make it. Senior Minister for Local Government Inayatullah Khan, K-P Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Atif Khan and women lawmakers of the assembly were present. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) UK Chapter General Secretary Abdul Basit Shah presented a shield to the K-P Inspector General of Police Salahuddin Mehsud.
“We pay tribute to you and the entire nation is proud of you,” said Qaisar as he praised the security forces for their timely response to the attack on ATI and for gallantly fighting off the attackers.
“You have always performed well and bravely fought against the terrorists under any circumstance.” SSP operations Sajjad Khan, Peshawar Police Chief Tahir Khan and 20 other officials and constables were awarded certificates.
