Taekwondo: Team leaves for World Championship

Three-man Pakistan squad left for South Korea to take part in the World Taekwondo Championship.

KARACHI:
A three-man Pakistan squad left for South Korea yesterday to take part in the World Taekwondo Championship which is starting from next week.

The team includes Usman Abid, Syed Adeel and Atief Arshad while Liaquat Baig is accompanying the players as the chef-de-mission. The taekwondo event will be played in Gyeongju from May 1 to 6. According to Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF), the event will help the players in their preparations  for the qualification rounds for next year’s Olympics in London. Meanwhile, PTF officials Iftikhar Ahmed and Waseem Ahmed will represent the country in the World Taekwondo Federation General Assembly to be held on April 30.
