ISLAMABAD: Mayor of Islamabad and Chairman CDA, Sheikh Anser Aziz paid a surprise visit to Lake View Park and expressed his annoyance over wild bushes, grass and poor cleanliness condition of park and directed for improvement of facilities particularly repairing of different swings on priority basis.

The mayor directed Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (IMC) officials to wear proper uniform while performing their duties and ordered immediate termination of two absent temporary employees on Friday.He directed to remove wild bushes, trim trees and improve overall cleanliness of Lake View Park within one week.  He asked officers concerned to carry out daily cleanliness and sweeping of the park, so that people from all over the country who visit this facility on a daily basis could be provided a clean and tidy environment.

Aziz said that strict action against absent employees would be taken and no laxity in this regard would be tolerated. “Lake View Park is one of the best recreational facilities of the city and IMC would take all possible measures to keep it clean and make this facility more environment friendly,” Mayor Aziz said. He also directed to submit details of kiosks established at Lake View Park and asked Park management to ensure provision of hygienic edible items at concessional rates. He also directed the security staff to remain vigilant while performing duties so that safe environment could be provided to the visitors.

On this occasion, Executive Director General Environment, Sanaullah Aman apprised the Mayor of Islamabad that 16 employees, in three different shifts, had been deputed for cleanliness and security of the park while 21 regular and 20 temporary employees were also performing duties in the park.

Mayor directed for immediate sacking of two temporary staffers besides initiating strict disciplinary proceedings against two regular workers of the authority. He instructed the Executive Director General Environment to personally monitor up-gradation of parks, attendance of employees and provision of other recreational facilities so that residents could be served in a better way. He made it clear that in future, if any employee was found performing duties without uniform, strict action both against employee and his incharge would be taken.
