KARACHI: The East additional district and sessions judge announced the decision to hand over Islamia College to the Islamic Education Trust by December 23.

The court ordered District East’s DIG to submit a report and issued directives to oversee the transfer of possession of the premises to the trust.

The court warned that the administration would be held in contempt of court if the building is not vacated by December 23. In his response to the show cause notice, the East SSP had said that the DIG was not arranging police personnel for them.

“With thousands of students studying there, the building cannot be vacated within the allotted time,” said the SSP. Previously, the court had ordered the vacation of the building and handing it over to the Islamic Education Trust due to non-payment of rent.
