FAO recommends scaling up innovation 

FAO Representative said joint and collaborative efforts of the government and FAO have resulted in control

ISLAMABAD: The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations recommended scaling up innovation in the agriculture sector and investing in youth to engage them in agriculture entrepreneurial activities for sustainable economic development and poverty alleviation. This was said during the launch ceremony of the report of the Evaluation of FAO’s contribution to the Pakistan from 2012-17 on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, FAO Representative Pakistan Mina Dowlatchahi said joint and collaborative efforts of the government and FAO have resulted in control and eliminated several animal diseases like foot and mouth, which were causing huge losses to the local livestock sector. She said that so far FAO completed about 60 different development projects from 2012-17 and spent an amount of $200 million.
