ICCI organises Investors Connect Program

Plans to bring all organisations promoting entrepreneurship on single platform

ISLAMABAD:
The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) organised an “Investors Connect Program” (ICP) on Thursday.

Ministry of Industries and Production Secretary Maroof Afzal was the chief guest of the event. Participants of UNIDO’s Global Cleantech Innovation Program (GCIP) presented their ideas to potential investors for future commercialisation.

Speaking at the occasion, Afzal said that the government is enacting supportive policies for innovators to bring an ‘industrial revolution’ in the country. He said Pakistan’s 60% youth is under 30 years of age which offers great potential for innovation. He said that an enabling environment and incentives are needed for innovative ideas to flourish.

Appreciating ICCI’s initiative, he urged investors to support innovators, while stressing for a mechanism and system to address barriers to entry for young entrepreneurs.


Special counters for foreigners

ICCI President Sheikh Amir Waheed said that that public-private partnership models should be developed to support innovators. He assured that ICCI would continue to partner with UNIDO in initiatives aimed at promoting innovators, start-ups and SMEs.

The ICCI also launched an “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum” (IEF) to bring all public and private sector organisations working for promoting innovations, on a single platform and bring synergy in their efforts for better promotion of innovators and startups.
