Special counters for foreigners

The first special counter would be set up at Lahore airport and then at other airports of the province

LAHORE: The Police Special Protection Unit (SPU) will set up special counters, in collaboration with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), at airports for the security of all foreign experts and investors, including Chinese. This was stated by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Capt (retd) Arif Nawaz on Monday. Addressing a meeting at Central Police Office, called to review the performance of SPU regarding the security of foreigners, he said that the special counters at airports would collect and maintain the data of foreigners and the arrangements for their security would be put in place right from the airport, he added. The first special counter would be set up at Lahore airport and then at other airports of the province, added the IGP. Issuing directions to Additional IG Welfare and Finance Muhammad Tahir about the provision of bullet-proof jackets and helmets for the SPU staff, he said that all necessary equipment, needed for security duty, would be provided on the priority basis.
