ISLAMABAD: The advocate general for the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) has been summoned by the Islamabad High Court on Friday (today) to present the government’s position on transferring an FIR against former Central Intelligence Agency station chief Jonathan Banks over the killing of civilians in a drone attack, to the tribal areas.

Advocate General Mian Abdul Rauf was directed to present his arguments. Failure to do so would see the court proceed in the case unilaterally.

The case has been pending for last two years mainly due to the non-availability of the AG to present the government’s stance.

The case filed by Kareem Khan — a resident of Mirali in North Waziristan Agency who had lost his son and brother in a US drone strike in 2009 — against the Islamabad police and others, had challenged the cancellation and transfer of the first information report from the capital to Fata.
