Mercury levels drop in the city, more rain expected

LAHORE: The mercury level dropped further in Lahore after rain in the provincial capital on Monday.

Though the weather turned pleasant and chilly in the provincial capital, it also caused a massive inconvenience for the people of Lahore as over 125 feeders of the Lahore Electricity Supply Company (LESCO) tripped and plunged various areas of the city into darkness.

A Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) report showed that rain-thunderstorm (with snowfall over the hills) occurred at scattered places in Punjab, Kashmir, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) and Gilgit-Baltistan as well as isolated areas of Sindh and Barkhan.

It highlighted that a westerly wave was affecting upper parts of the country and the current spell was likely to continue till Wednesday.

Weather forecast for the next 12 hours (from 20:00 PST 11-12-2017 to 8:00 PST 12-12-2017) indicated that more rain-thunderstorm, with snowfall over the hills, was expected at scattered places in upper K-P, the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sargodha divisions), Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Also, isolated places in Faisalabad, Sahiwal and Kohat divisions would be affected.

Similarly, the weather outlook for the next 48 hours (08:00 13-12-2017 to 08:00 14-12-2017) highlighted that more rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills was expected at isolated places of upper Punjab, Islamabad, upper K-P, upper FATA, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Cold and dry weather was expected elsewhere in the country.
