KARACHI:

The house counting part of the census has been completed in Karachi district, announced DCO Muhammad Hussain Syed on Wednesday.

If a resident was unable to get his or her house marked or was away from the city, he can contact the city government’s control room by calling 99203443 or 99205639 or sending a fax to 99205634.

Syed said that the counting in all 18 towns and six cantonments of the city started on April 5. Although the official deadline is May 5, the census in Karachi is nearly complete, he added.

According to the DCO, the enumerators have counted individual bungalows, government and residential houses, mosques, temples, churches, tents, huts, caves, boats, apartment buildings and flats. The three-digit numbers have been painted outside the main gates of these houses. The enumerators have also noted the name of the head of the family.
