The Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) in collaboration with the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) claim to have killed two suspected kidnappers on Saturday allegedly involved in the kidnapping of school-going children in Defence.

Five-year-old Muhammad Abban was kidnapped on his way back from school with his mother from Haque Academy, a private school in Defence, on Wednesday. The school falls under the jurisdiction of the Darakhshan police station.

“The family received a demand for payment of Rs150 million for the safe release of the child. After negotiation, the deal was finalised at Rs300,000. Governor Mohammad Zubair also took notice of this incident and directed CPLC and law enforcement agencies for safe recovery of the kidnapped child,” CPLC Chief Zubair Habib Habib said in a statement.

However, in a counterattack, both the suspects were killed on the spot in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Ransom money of Rs100,000, a purse and mobilephone belonging to the child’s mother were also recovered. IG Khawaja announced Rs100,000 cash reward for the AVCC team.
