Chiniot gets incinerator plant to dispose of hospital waste

Minister directs officials to initiate crackdown against quacks across Chiniot

FAISALABAD: The Punjab government has provided double chamber good quality incinerator plant worth Rs500 million to District Headquarter Hospital Chiniot which not only disposes of hospital waste but also discourages its illegal recycling.

Punjab Minister for Primary and Secondary Health Khawaja Imran Nazir inaugurated the incinerator plant while Chiniot Deputy Commissioner Ayub Khan, District Council Chairman Saqlain Sajanka, Additional Secretary Health Asif Altaf and others were present.



On the occasion, Imran Nazir said that under the vision of the CM, the government had provided billions of rupees for installing environmental friendly incinerators in 26 districts across the province and 37 vehicles had been purchased for transportation of infectious waste from hospitals.

He said that efforts were being made to provide most advanced and quality health facilities to the patients at their door steps and huge funds were being spent on the up-gradation of health institutions and provision of medical machinery.

He added that the people of Chiniot were being provided with expanded medical facilities in DHQ Hospital. He directed the health officials to conduct crackdown against quacks across the district.

The minister assured his full support for managing resources for the health institutions and advised that the health department management should play its role in improving the health sector.

He pointed out that 0.5 million people were screened during the health camps arranged by district health authorities in 2017. In addition, he maintained that 14 HIV AIDS control centers were working in Punjab along with hepatitis clinics.



The minister said 10 days activities of health convention were also under way. He also inaugurated hepatitis clinic at DHQ Chiniot and took a round of different section of the facility.

Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner said that the incinerator plant was needed at the hospital. He said that dedicated medical store was working round-the-clock.

He said that Gynae ward had provided free delivery facility to the females and daily 2,000 patients were checked at OPD.
