Acting charge has been given to Dr Altaf Hussain

The chancellor of the Federal Urdu University of Art, Science and Technology (FUUAST) removed Prof Dr Zafar Iqbal from the post of vice-chancellor on Thursday and appointed Dr Altaf Hussain as acting VC.
Dr Hussain, the former VC of the Allama Iqbal Open University, will be serving as acting VC till the appointment of a permanent candidate.
The deputy chairperson of the varsity’s senate, Javed Ashraf, confirmed Dr Iqbal’s removal and the appointment of Dr Hussain as the acting VC.
A meeting of the varsity senate was held on October 19 and summoned Dr Iqbal for an explanation regarding the allegations leveled against him but he failed to appear, according to the Ashraf. He added that Dr Iqbal also failed to furnish an explanation at yet another meeting.
VC promotes 18 senior clerks
Therefore, the senate recommended to the competent authority to give charge of the VC’s post to Dr Hussain.
Subsequently, the office of the president of Pakistan, who is the varsity’s chancellor, issued on Thursday a notification on Dr Iqbal’s removal.
