Keen traveller and stylish mommy-of-two, Mona Bilour, decodes her style. Residing in Dubai, she enjoys socialising and travelling. From the silhouettes she loves, to the styles she avoids, she shares it all

Understanding your body is the key to looking good and a trait found amongst all impeccably dressed fashionistas. While people shy away from talking about their bodies, these brave souls explain how they work their anatomies to their advantage

How would you describe your body type?

I am skinny six months of the year and not so skinny the remaining six, as I love to eat!

Has your body changed over the last five years?

Totally! The body changes with age, especially after three pregnancies. As I bid adieu to my 30’s next year, I feel I have become very comfortable with my body after years of raging battles with it! We finally understand each other.

How has your style changed over the years?

I have always been up to date when it comes to fashion, but the taboo of not wearing certain things in Pakistan because of “what people may think” doesn’t make sense anymore! I wear what I want to now and I’m a much happier person.

In your opinion what is your most troublesome area?

My hips! As they say, “A moment on the lips, forever on the hips!”

In your opinion what is the biggest mistake a person can make while dressing here?

Revealing body parts that need to be toned-biggest fashion faux pas!

Which silhouettes suit your body the most?

Can’t really pick one, I love all that I wear! But my love for skinny jeans paired with a t-shirt or button-down is everlasting! Long, flowy dresses or short pencil dresses do it for me too; on my most skinny days.

How do you dress your body according to your body type?

I only wear clothes that suit and enhance me as a person. If it doesn’t catch the eye, it’s not my style.

What is the one piece of clothing that you shy away from wearing and why?

I have worn a sari maybe three times only. I feel a sari only suits very tall, lean girls so in my opinion, my height would not do justice to it.
