Margala, Young Rising Stars progress
Group C final standings decided in women’s football event.
KARACHI:
Margala Football Club defeated defending champions Young Rising Stars FC Rawalpindi 1-0 in the National Women’s Club Football Championship as the group C matches concluded yesterday.
In another match, Sagodha University defeated Young Rising Stars FC Layyah 2-0 to finish third in the group.
Asma Sherbaz scored the winner for Margala FC in the 44th minute. In the second match, Sargodha’s Farhat Batool scored against YRS Layyah in the 14th minute and Sidra Gul doubled the lead in the 42nd minute to seal the result.
Margala FC and Young Rising Stars FC Rawalpindi have progressed to the next round of the tournament while Hazara Shaheen FC, Sargodha University, YRS Layyah are all out of the competition.
Meanwhile, LSE defeated LGS 4-0 in their group B clash with Batool, Khadija, Ayesha and Nishey scoring one goal each.
