ISLAMABAD:
With the aim of promoting and preserving the art of calligraphy, National Language Promotion Department (NLPD) has established the first-ever Calligraphy Wing within its premises under the patronage of National History and Literary Heritage (NH&LH) division.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister’s Adviser on NH&LH Irfan Siddiqui hoped that the wing would serve as a catalyst for promoting the glorious and ancient art of calligraphy and will inspire the younger generation to explore the intricacies of this unique art.

“Calligraphy is not merely an art but it is a legacy of the companions of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)," he added.

Siddiqui lauded that the Pakistani calligraphers have proven their artistic abilities at the national and international level without any government assistance.

The NH&LH division has compiled a directory of 320 Pakistani calligraphers which includes their information. He added that the directory will be printed within a month.
