Political worker among five suspects held in Karachi raids

Arms and ammunition recovered from their possession

The paramilitary force claimed to have arrested on Wednesday at least five suspects, including a political worker, during ongoing targeted raids in parts of the city.

A political worker was arrested during a targeted raid conducted on a tip-off in the Madina Colony area. The suspect was identified as Kamran alias Kami. According to the Rangers spokesperson, the suspect is affiliated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement - London and had been involved in various cases of crime, including aerial firing during strikes, wall chalking, casting bogus votes during general elections in 2008 and 2013, anti-state propaganda on social media and the sale and purchase of arms.


In another raid, the paramilitary force also claimed to have arrested a suspect who was later identified as Noor alias Noori. The Rangers spokesperson said that the suspect belonged to a Lyari-based gang and was involved in targeted killings and extortion activities in the Macchar Colony area.

Meanwhile, three more suspects were arrested during a raid conducted in Gulberg neighbourhood. The suspects were identified as Usman alias Shanu, Asif Rajput and Javed alias Ali. The Rangers also claimed to have recovered arms and ammunition from their possession. The suspects were later handed over to the police.
