ISLAMABAD:
The Department of Archaeology and Museums is set to organise a week-long exhibition on the cultural heritage of Pakistan through a display of unique and rare artefacts depicting different periods in Pakistan’s history.

The exhibition is set to commence on Thursday, December 7 and last until December 13. The exhibition is part of the department’s plan to celebrate 70 years of Pakistan’s independence.

“The department has finalised arrangements for holding the week-long activity with the involvement of officials from the National History and Literary Heritage (NH&LH) Division, archaeology experts, researchers and students,” said Department of Archaeology and Museums (DoAM) Archaeology Director Abdul Azeem while speaking to the media

Azeem added that the exhibition to will be held at the Sir Syed Memorial building auditorium, and will be a great opportunity for students, researchers and art lovers to explore the artefacts, their origins and other details.

The exhibition will include sculptures, pottery, coins, art pieces, manuscript, and weapons which have been found in Pakistan.

Azeem said the department had arranged the exhibition in light of directives from the Prime Minister’s Advisor on NH&LH Irfan Siddiqui to organise activities to mark the 70th Independence Day of the country.

“We all have to arrange such cultural activities to promote a soft image of the country at the international level and tell people what Pakistan is all about,” Azeem added, elaborating that the department has recently added 1,000 additional artefacts in its collection which were recovered by the customs officials at the Islamabad Airport recently.
