Eid Miladun Nabi celebrated across South Punjab
More than 100 rallies were taken out in the city to celebrate the occasion

Eid Miladun Nabi (peace be upon him) was celebrated on Friday with religious zeal and fervor across the South Punjab amid tight security. More than 100 rallies were taken out in the city to celebrate the birthday of the last Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Mosques, buildings, markets, streets and homes have been decorated and illuminated with colourful lights and buntings. The major procession was organised by Anjuman Islamia which led by Makhdoom Wajahat Hussain Gilani, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, PTI Chief Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, former federal minister Syed Tanvirul Hassan Gilani, Syed Ahmed Mujtaba Gilani, Malik Aamer Dogar, ex-MPA, Syed Ghulam Yazdani Gilani, Rajan Bakhsh Gilani and Syed Asad Murtaza Gilani. All adjacent roads of the procession had also been decorated with colourful buntings, placards and banners.
Candles and oil lamps (chirag) were lit on the eve of Eid Miladun Nabi to celebrate the holy prophet’s birthday. The procession was taken out from Shaukat Hussain Islamia Kinder Garden School and terminated at the same place after passing through Daulat Gate, Delhi Gate, Pak Gate and Ghanta Ghar Hussain Agahi.
Eid Miladun Nabi congregations, rallies and processions were taken out in all cities of the South Punjab including tribal belt of Dera Ghazi Khan. People have also decorated their houses with colorful lights and green flags to show their immeasurable love with the last prophet (peace be upon him).
In their Friday sermons, prominent religious scholars highlighted various aspects of the life of the holy prophet (peace be upon him) calling upon people to follow the teachings of the holy prophet for their salvation. Solid Waste Management Company and Municipal Corporation have cancelled the holiday on Friday as government officials have been asked to come to work to keep the city neat and clean.
All the offices of local government department remained open on Eid Miladun Nabi to facilitate the participants of the different processions. Naat, quiz and speech competition were held at schools and colleges to highlight the life of the holy prophet (peace be upon him). The Multan Municipal Corporation and district council arranged communal meals on the route of processions.
A senior PML-N leader said as per instructions of the party leadership, all the MNAs, MPAs, mayors, deputy mayors, chairman of district council, municipal committees and union council attended these functions. He said the party wanted to win back the support from religious parties and groups in the province after the Faizabad fiasco.
