Protest: Workers stage hunger strike
2,000 employees of the Wasa, have not been paid since February.
HYDERABAD:
As many as 2,000 employees of the Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa), a subsidiary of the Hyderabad Development Authority (HDA), have not been paid since February.
The workers staged a hunger strike from the platform of Mehran Workers Union on Tuesday. The union’s Insaf Ali Lashari said that the employees and their families were living in want. “The salaries of the daily-wage workers are already inadequate and, to top it off, even that meagre sum is not being paid regularly,” he complained.
