PESHAWAR: Speakers at two-day national workshop on “Innovation in Technology” on Thursday underscored the need for research in engineering for industrial development. They said it was necessary to encourage students to be innovative and learn new things in engineering and technology. The days of rote-learning are gone, faculty should encourage out-of-box thinking and focus on project based learning, they said. Speakers pointed out that CPEC will create a huge demand for engineers and technicians. The two- day workshop was held at University of Engineering Technology Peshawar where representatives of over 20 universities, factories, mills, industrial units and other organisations participated. On this occasion, nearly 60 industrial projects were presented for exhibition in which participants took keen interest.
