Rs509m released for uplift schemes

Under the KPSD programme, cleanliness process in 64 UCs out of 125 UCs had commenced

SARGODHA: A sum of Rs509.5 million has been released for 202 uplift schemes of 275 Union Councils under Rural Development Package and Punjab Saaf Dehat Programme.

This was disclosed at a steering committee meeting which was chaired by the District Council Chairman Sardar Asim Sher Maiken.

Deputy Commissioner Liaqat Ali Chatha and other concerned officials also attended the meeting.

Officials said that under Rural Development Package, various projects, including construction of sewerage, streets, boundary wall of graveyards, waiting areas of bus stops, installation of water filtration plants and LT pools were included in 186 Union Councils of the district and Rs465 million had been allocated for the schemes.

Low-cost housing scheme yet to get off ground

Under the KPSD programme, cleanliness process in 64 UCs out of 125 UCs had commenced while Rs2.5 million would be provided to each UC.

In addition, Rs0.5 million each will be issued to 89 wards for cleanliness of villages and dumping of garbage to allocated places. Officials maintained that garbage had been removed from 2,989 sites out of 5,911 locations in 845 villages while all-out efforts were being made to keep the villages clean.
