KARACHI:
Mobile phone services will be suspended in Sindh's major cities on the occasion of 12th Rabiul Awwal, Express News reported on Thursday.

Earlier in the day, the Sindh government had approached the Federal Interior Ministry, requesting for the suspension of cellphone and internet services on Friday (tomorrow).

According to the secretary of Sindh Interior Ministry, the telecom services will not be available in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur and Mirpurkhas.

The request was made due to "threat perception" on 12th Rabiul Awwal and "ongoing operation Radd-ul-Fasaad against terrorist organisations".

The Express Tribune has a copy of the letter written by the Home Department addressing to the ministry.
